Frequently Asked Questions

  • Each class meets live twice per week with an additional study hall time with their teacher. Classes are not recorded because we feel it creates the most open and safe atmosphere when they are not.

    Strongly self-directed independent students have access to a full catalogue of asynchronous course material, including dual enrollment options for college credit. These are decided by academic directors on a case by case basis.

  • Yes. Colossal Academy is a licensed private school with Florida’s Department of Education.

  • Tuition is $1050 a month after the initial $350 enrollment fee. We operate our tuition on a sliding scale with a limited number of spots for families excited about what we offer but are unable to pay full price.

  • At this time, we are approved for direct pay through EMA portal and the New Hampshire Children’s Scholarship Fund.

  • No, this only applied to year 1 enrollments. We will be enrolling students grades 6-11th grade in 2025 and will expand to 12th grade by 2026.

  • Yes, teachers will hold weekly office hours that students can pop into as they need to get help on a problem or question they are stuck on.

  • Yes, students who complete the required coursework can receive a certified diploma.

  • Yes, the enrollment process does take about 2 weeks from start to first day of class. We do accept students on a rolling basis.

  • We are an approved private school in many states. Others will be added as families request access. Please reach out in the chat for information about your specific state.

  • Currently we are approved for direct pay through EMA portal and Class Wallet for Arizona and New Hampshire Children’s Scholarship Fund. We also accept AAA scholarships.

  • All fully enrolled students will take a National Norm Reference Test twice a year to track progress.

  • We do accept students with an IEP. We accept students with accommodation needs on a case-by-case base. Colossal Academy would love to be able to provide a space for all students but at this time we are not equipped to be able to handle all cases.

  • Students need to use a computer either PC or Mac. For higher-level computer competencies, Chromebooks do not have the processing needed for drafting and other programs, like video editing.
